Dress Code

 

 Golf skirts, skorts and shorts, all not more than 4 inches above the knee, slacks, capris, shirts with sleeves and/or sleeveless shirts with collars ARE acceptable. 

 

Short shorts, tank tops, tennis-length shorts and jeans are NOT acceptable at any WGAWNY event. 

 

Players who do not comply will be given the opportunity to change, wear rain pants or buy appropriate attire from the host pro shop. 

 

Failure to honor this policy will result in disqualification from the event. 

 

All WGAWNY members dining inside the host clubhouse following play must remove all visors, caps and hats.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

USGA rules govern all play.  Local rules will be established before play by the individual golf course.

 

A USGA handicap index of 16.4 at year end must be maintained for a member’s first two years.  Thereafter, a member’s index shall not exceed 19.4. Members must have posted a minimum of ten (10), 18-hole round scores by the close of each WGAWNY golfing season, to be eligible to renew their membership. (New 2011)

 

The maximum number of members from each district is 100.

 

Dues of $40 per year must be received by the due date on the dues notice in order to maintain membership.

 

In the case of a medical problem or accident, a one-year grace period will be allowed to re-establish a handicap within WGAWNY’s limits.  This applies to non-probationary members only.  Payment of dues must continue through the grace period.

 

The maximum number of handicap strokes allowed in any tournament is 18.

 

 A two-stroke penalty will be imposed for being late to the tee and for delay of play.

 

 Prize certificates will not be honored after October 31st
 each year.

 Prize certificates for each tournament must be redeemed at
 the Pro Shop of the club that hosted the tournament.

Candidates for admission must be golfing members of a WGAWNY club.  The following order is used for membership admission:

 

~ Handicap index of 9.4 or below is automatically admitted

~ Lowest handicap

~ Member of a new club in WGAWNY

~ Clubs with fewer than three members

~ Longest time on the waiting list

 

It is the responsibility of each club’s Representative to attend the spring and fall meetings. 

The WGAWNY Representative from the host club is the chairman of the event, with the other members of WGAWNY working as her committee.

 

Contestants are responsible for mailing entry forms, with a check in US Funds for the total fee that includes cart and lunch.

 

NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED MORE THAN FOUR WEEKS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THE EVENT. CHANGE 2016: A multi event entry will be posted to allow players to send entries for the season or send individual entries. This is being tried to encourage participation.

 

Pairings, tee times, and a map shall be posted at www.wgawny.com approximately one week before an event, and.  Cart and lunch fees are non-refundable once the closing date has passed.

 

Pairings, as published, are the responsibility of the tournament chair and her committee.  Any changes may be made by the committee only.  Players who change their pairings without permission shall be disqualified.

 

If the tournament field must be limited for any reason, entries will be accepted in the order they are received.

 

It is the responsibility of each WGAWNY member to put her current handicap index on each application form.  Any member found to be giving incorrect indexes will be immediately suspended from the membership.

 

 

Western Host Club Rep Event Instructions

 

The rep is responsible for arranging for event continental breakfast and lunches or dinners.

 

Event Budget:

ü  Entry fee per player, subtract cart fees per person
(with tax included)

   Remainder is budget for Meal(s)/tax/gratuity budget for the event.
Example: $65 - $20.50 Carts with tax
Meal/tax/gratuity budget is $44.50 per person to cover continental breakfast, snacks, lunch/dinner

ü  Prizes are budgeted per event and paid in host pro shop certificates, from dues

ü  Bag room tips are budgeted per event and paid from dues

The treasurer (Nancy S.) will receive in all entries and provide names and numbers to host club Rep.

The club rep will make pairings by index, be the contact for her/host club Professional and advise handicap adjustments if required (these are posted on entries), if any. Note: there are no net prizes for the  for the championship or One Day Medal.

We generally ask Nancy Q. to assist with the flights and prizes, in cooperation with the Rep (aka the event chair). She will review the pairings received from the tournament chair, calculate the budget for prizes based on flights and past events and advise the rep so she can notify the Professional staff of the certificate requirements.

Champion can come from any flight/division. Low 16 and players within ten shots of the lead play on Day 2 if signed up on entry for both days.

 

One Day Medal:
Gross only

 

Two Gal:

Net champions with gross prizes.
Handicap
90% adjustment after slope and no player gets more than 14 shots.

 

Four Gal:

Net champions with gross prizes.
Handicap 80% after slope adjustment with a max. of 18 pre-adjustment, which means no player gets more than 14 shots.
